May I ask how much you had to lose to begin with?

That's what I've heard. Peanut butter is high on my list of "approved
foods" as long as I get the natural, unsweetened kind and pour off the
excess oil. But then, my surgeon's plan is much more carb restrictive
than fat restrictive. My surgeon told me I needed some of the good fat
    to keep my matabolism up.

    Marina,
Can you share more about your food plan from your surgeon? I would love to
    know.
    Thanks

My dr. supports a very, very low carb plan. I don't know if you are
familiar with the book Protein Power or not, but basically, I am to
limit my intake of carbs to about 20-30 max per day. The objective is
to keep my body in Ketosis as much as possible. Some people can be in
ketosis on up to 50-70 carbs per day (NOT ME). It also say's I need
more like 80-100oz water per day instead of 64oz. That is usually my
biggest struggle. I can eat eggs, drink whole milk (although I don't, I
switched to 1% and prefer it). I even avoid sugars in juice and fruit
for now. When I reach my goal weight, I will be able to add those back
into my diet. I totally avoid bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, sugar and
starchy veggies like corn and carrots. I miss them though (I am a true
    carb addict).
I hope that helps. I have had the Protein Power book for years now. I
was able to loose some weight on this plan even as a pre-op, but could
never control my cravings for sweets long term. I still struggle with
it now, but it's MUCH, MUCH better.
I hope this answers your question, if not please let me know if you have
    specific questions.

The power protein book sounds exactly like the Atkins program

Great info thanx......I think all of our surgeons are different......I am not
sure how I am going to do the food when I am post op . It seems I read all of
this but it really overwhelms me with all the different types of protein and
vitamins that you can get. May be if I keep reading the posts I will decide
what I am going to do.
Trilightherbs are wonderful source for protein and natural vitamins. I hope
some will take a look at it. Let me know what you think, please.
I live in Dorchester, SC and Dr. Kaboot is my surgeon. It sure would be
great to connect with some of you who are in my neck of the woods. Let me know
    if
you are.....Please feel free to personally e-mail me Josiah@...
    I am on line daily....
Thanx a lot and good luck to all as I pray for you daily.
Looking to hear from some of you.

Yes, Protein Power is very similiar to Atkins. It restricts carbs even more
and it a bit simplified, but the same concept.
