Watch my diet, not overweight, take allopurinol 300mg, still have attacks! Help?

I am 35 not overweight, exercise, eat right, and I have been on 300mg
of allopurinol for the last year, but I still get attacks. I watch my
purine intact and have all but given up alcohol and red meat. Does
anyone have any ideas? Do they prescribe more than 300mg of
allopurinol/day?
Any tips on getting rid of this crystals?!? Ouch it is such a dirty
feeling.
thanks for any help or suggestions

    hi...
well.... i think taking 300mg of Zyloric (allopurinol) is high dose ( i
m not a doctor though). I dont take any medicine, just control my diet
(for uric acid), watch my weight, regularly exercise (brisk walking and
crunches... sit ups etc). I still get attacks.... may be once every two
months. I take Indocid 50 mg every four hours till I recover, i.e. the
swelling subsides; after that sometimes I take Allopurinol and
sometimes dont.... mostly not. Even when I do take Allopurinol, it is
    only 100mg per day.
/..... and yes I know its a very 'helplessness' feeling one gets during
    attacks !!!

Wow, having attacks once every two months is too much in my opinion....I get them once or twice a year and that wears me out mentally and physically. You must have a great tolerance for pain!

I am supposed to see a rheumatologist next week to hear what he has to say. Hopefully he'll have an answer...but I am not holding my breath.

    Hi ,
This is Anish from India started getting the "G" attacks from about a
year ago. I first neglected it until I met a specialist.
I have stopped drinkning beer which is a big sacrifice ! I started
drinking .5 to a litre of water every morning immediately after I
wake up and thats helped me a lot than the medicines .... I plan to
start working out to reduce my weight !!
