too much allopurinol?
I am currently on Allopurinol 300MG and wonder if my current feeling of
being off can be attributed to the amount of Allopurinol I am taking. I
have never taken Allopurinol everyday until this past week and wonder
if anyone has had this side effect. I have read other post and it seems
most people are only taking 100MG so I wonder if I am taking to big of
a dose, however I am a large guy 6'5 300lbs. I just feel cloudy headed
and kinda disoriented when I try to read for an extended time.
I remember when I first started on Allopurinol, I had 50mg pills that I
was told to take 2 three times a day. I was pretty dizzy in the
beginning but my body did adjust. I usually just sleep it off. Maybe
there is a reason why your doctor prescribed you at 300 mg. If your
taking this everyday, you could consider other medication for gout.
I'm actually trying to get back on Zyloprim (can't remember it is a
generic for something or not). All I would have to do is take one
every day, no side effects.
Hello All,
Been taking Allo at 300 mg daily since day one, about 10 years ago.
As I remember it, the beginning was a little bit shaky till I got acclimated
to it. The shaky part was easier to deal with than the gout.
Zyloprim is the brand name for generic Allopurinol.

I'm currently on 500mg a day (300 in the morning + 2 x 100 in the evening).
I also think I'll be moving to 600 when I next see the rheum.
