stomach upset

Hi all!
Been on Allo for six months and find it really upsets my stomach!
Is this a common problem?
I am on Indomethacin 50mg x3 times a day, which Definitely upsets my
stomach, but stopping Indomethacin when the inflamation has gone
down! I still seem to have an upset stomach!!
Also still getting twinges as though the gout is just waiting round
the corner to start at a moments lapse........
Any ideas please.
I feel as though I will never conquer this underlying problem.
Regards
Martin

Indomethacin is your problem and hang in there. If you are not in
the middle of a gout asttack don't treat yourself for one. The
twinges will be there for at least another 6 months, yes they are
scary but they will gradually go away. They are there, I believe,
because your system is flushing out the excess uric acid that had
    deposited around your body.
I'd advise that you stop the Indo, have colcchicine available and
have another kind of NSAID-I react particularly well to Celebrex but
it takes about 12 hours to work well, available in case you really do
    get an attack.
I found that for the first 8 months I got attacks but that they were
all controlled within 24 to 36 hours with my trusty colcchicine and
Celebrex usuallly 3 of each spaced 12 hours apart. The attacks are
more frequent but of much lower intensity as the uric acid is being
removed. Someone suggested that you increase the allopurinol and I
think that would be foolish if you are in fact having a stomache
reaction to it. You will get more effective function from your
allopurinol too if you devide the pills in half and take one after
breakfast and one after dinner. That way you will minimize the
    problem with your stomache.
Read up on Indo and you will find that it is notorious for messing
with your digestive track. Stop it and you will get better that way.
If your gout returns, which I suspect it will not, then you will have
to treat it. If you are not in a real attack, stop treating for
one.Twinges are normal and do not mean that you are going to get a
    gout attack.

try taking the pill before dinner .. seems to work for me and aviod
taking indocin it has the most side effects than any other NSAID.
as for the twinges, drink alot of water, for me i get instant result
when i mix water with half tea spoon of baking soda.

Excellent. Baking soda will balance your blood and body's ph value
which is essentially the cause of gout. If you can catch it early enough.
Worked for me. And going vegetarian. No more crab cakes or red wine.
Pharma, as always, leads to more pharma.

Hi, I know I don't write much lately been crazy. Ok, I know this is
going to sound real crazy but trust me it works. Try a cup of catnip
tea. Take about 1 tablespoon and add hot water and sweetner. Let sit
for about 1-3 mins. The taste takes some getting used to but trust me
it works great for stomach aches and cramps. Just make sure when you
get the nip it has nothing else in it(don't use catnip from pet
store) Any whole grocery store carries loose catnip. You can also lay
down with a hot water bottle. Hopes these help.

    Hi All!
I used to take Zinc tablets (Lets not say what for!)
But I am a bit dubious about taking them as zinc is one of the minerals in shellfish, which does definitely trigger an attack with me. or is it the purines in shellfish which is the cause?

    (1) does anyone know if Zinc is OK to take with gout or is their a known problem with it?

    Regards
    Martin
