Snake oil safety??
HMmmm..I don't THINK per se that any of the snake oils that I have
come across are dangerous per se..and yes this has recentlly been
mentioned.
BUT there is this side:
Said gout sufferrer goes to his multi trillion dollar
pharmacutical chain..sees said product..reads claims of cure.BELIEVES
in said cure/product..OR else they wouldn't buy it would they!Or at
the very least believes in trying it.
The product is allowwed to be manufactured,distributed,sold,it's
claims are allowed to stand(although untested/unconfirmed).The
government in effect sees no real harm in this product..as they don't
control it/ban it like illegal drugs.The pharmacy goes along and
sells it.
The person takes this product in good faith.
Now this stuff doesn't work of course..AND that gout IS a
progressive disease.SO while he is taking the product to cure gout
the gout is In FACT getting worse!ALL the while this same pharmacy
does indeed sell a product(allopurinol) that does INDEED work! BUT is
NOT purported to be a cure.
People don't take snake oil AND allopurinol.They take the snake oil
THEN end up taking the allopurinol USUALLY before there is serious
damage.
Be an interesting lawsuit if someone actually rode the snake oil
to their demise..
Ya but who could take the pain?
INTERESTING..the snake oil proponents KNOW FULL WELL..that they're
gonna make their money..and so what?who cares?..these people ARE
ALMOST 100% going to get proper medical attention..BEFORE any damage
is done..hence no lawsuit..WOO HOO!..and MORE customers will come
along..
