Smokers!

I am proud to say that it has now been just over 1 full year since I
have picked up a cigarette! Yea Me!!!!
How I did it...
I knew the first step was to get rid of the nic addiction so, feeling
that it would be easier to rid my body of that without feeling
neglected from my oral habit I cut straws into 20 cigarette lengths
and put them into an old, empty cig package. I carried this package
of straws around with me just as I would my regular cigs and even
went out to the smoking tent with them. I would pull out a straw
(since they are the same circumfrance as my smokes were) and inhale
and blow back out just as I did while smoking, only now it was clean
air instead of all the garbage I was getting from my cigarettes.
When I hopped into my car on the way to or from work I would do the
same thing, and after dinner I would go out back and, yep... same
thing. After a while the nicotine levels reduced in my body and my
cravings for the substance subsided and I was able to eventually get
rid of the oral habit and toss out my pack of phony cigs.
I can't say it has been a breeze and there are still times, like at a
road block, or late evenings, that I would love to pull out a smoke
and get that feeling (disgusting that it can actually be a great
feeling, isn't it?) again, but I'm able to get past it and I feel
even better each time I "just say no!" I smell better, my clothes
smell better, and my new car has never had a puff of smoke blown in
it.
Hope you all find success and not only will you be big losers after
surgery, but you can proudly proclaim to be great big quitters too.
*smiles*
